[ltp] installing different HD in tp 760EL

Again, this is not directly concerned with Linux, and again, apologies.

I'm been trying to install a couple of used hard drives in my tp
760EL. The original 2.1 gig HD works fine, but I could find use for
backup drives.

One of the drives is a generic 1.4 gig 2.5" Toshiba and the other is a
250 meg IBM. Both are in the proper tp "shell" with the right connector.

The problem is that while I can physically install the drives, the BIOS
will not recognize them. Actually, I don't even know how to get into the
BIOS setup to set the drive parameters. In a desktop machine, holding
down <Delete> at reset or bootup gets into the BIOS, but on my tp it
just gets me an error message. Holding down <F1> gets into "Easy-Setup",
but this does not allow changing the drive parameters.

Maybe the tp is supposed to autodetect the HD parameters on bootup
and the two used drives I have are both defective. This is certainly
possible. I'm new to laptops and mostly ignorant about this stuff...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mendel
