There should be no vital difference amongst the distros EXCEPT Corel Linux
1.0. That one absolutely forced me to do a GUI install and it did not work
on the i series. The rest you can default to text install if the graphic
install fails. I guarantee you X will NOT work on ANY distro with the
accelerated server. Period. The only way X will work is if you use the
SVGA server with the frame buffer console enabled, or the Frame Buffer server
itself. The SVGA server is faster than the frame buffer server.

Installing redhat packages on non-rpm based systems is not always fun. I
wouldn't count on it. If you want redhat apps, use redhat. Personally I
have used 5 or more different distros (redhat, slackware, yggdrasil, debian,
corel, my own creation, etc), and they all have their points. However, I
challenge you to get DB2 rpms working on distro's other than Redhat. I have
a Linux DB2 cd that segfaults on redhat 6.0 even! (requires 5.2 - newer
versions work fine though)

I expect that Corel linux has even fixed their install although that's
just a guess.

In conclusion, Redhat 6.1 install is just as easy as any. Choose
whichever you like.
