[ltp] My other 600X problem: Sound

My last major problem with Linux on this laptop is getting sound
working. lspci (from pciutils 2.1.4) sees a CS4614/22/24. The
ALSA driver for this chipset (cs-461x) fails to load, with this error
message:

snd: cs461x: create - never read ISV3 & ISV4 from AC'97

Now, IBM's "Detailed Specifications" page for this laptop insists that
it has a CS4239. But, lspnp can't find it. ALSA, using the
configuration I've seen on many a 600E doesn't work (snd_port=0x530
snd_cport=0x538 etc.). Same with the OSS/Free kernel driver.

I've tried the standard SoundBlaster driver (since there is SB
emulation in DOS mode) at the ports/IRQs/DMAs shown by the BLASTER
environment variable. I've even tried the NM256 audio driver. None of
these have worked.

Has anyone had any luck getting their 600X's audio working under Linux
yet?
