I actually did not have to make any modifications for the 10/100 Etherjet.
The only changes I had to make for
my system was to get token ring to work.  Using RH 6.2, it already has
definitions for the card and I've found that
if it can see the card, normally you don't have much else to do except for
maybe some tuning and memory parameters
which have nothing to do with getting it to function.
  While I'm not very
familiar with Mandrake, I'm also not aware
of problems with that.  The one thing I did notice when installing though
is that the more I tweaked with settings and
upgrades etc., the more problems I caused myself.  Leaving it with the
default settings usually was the best policy.

Having said that, the one thing I can't get working is to get the card to
shift up to 100MB speed.  The card seems to
be set to auto-detect, but when I plug it into a 100MB hub, I get an error
condition on the cable and am unable to
set a correct default route and a host of other network problems.  If
anyone has resolved this kind of problem, please
let me know.

be happy to send them on.

We've got a TP600X (5EU) running w/ an IBM EtherJet Carbus nic, but only at
10 Mb.  Cary, can you respond to the above reply list with the config.opts
and network.opts files?

My network.opts file is fine.  I'm using DHCP for network access.
Currently, I've borrowed a 3Com card and am using it for network
access until I can find the time to investigate and correct the
problem with the EtherJet card.  I've had no problems with the 3Com
card, so my network setup is correct.

The problem is either with the tulip_cb driver or the dhcpcd daemon
which is used to establish the connection.  Once the connection is
established, the ethernet card appears to work OK.
