[ltp] OS freeze on high network usage

Hello,

I hope someone can offer some help. I have a IBM ThinkPad 600X
running RedHat 6.2. Everything works great except when I try to ftp a
large file (> 300 Megs). The ftp gets to about 287 Megs and then stops.
With RedHat 6.2 the screen locks up and I can no longer ping the system.
The only way (I have found) to unlock the system is to insert a PCMCIA
card (or eject one if I have two cards inserted).

I have tried two different Xircom PCMCIA network cards and one
Intel PCMCIA network card and still the system locks up.

I have installed SuSE 6.4 and Slackware 7.1 in the hopes it was a
vendor or kernel version issue. Still the system locks up.

However, with Slackware 7.1 the lockup is a *little* bit
different. After about 287 megs the ftp stops *but* the mouse still
works. In fact, I can still launch programs and close/move windows.
However, as soon as I hit one keyboard key the screen locks up and I have
to insert the PCMCIA card.

If anyone has any ideas which could help I would be in your debt.
If not, then if someone with a TP 600X could try a 300 Meg+ ftp download
and let me know if their system locks up or not that would also be of a
big help.

Thanks,
	Joshua
