[ltp] Closing lid while in X?

| Has anyone gotten their Thinkpads to recover from closing the lid while
| in X? When I close the lid and reopen it, I get these strange looking
| vertical bars, and I can't recover from it.

I had that problem on my 770Z. The thing that fixed it for good was
turning on the framebuffer console support in the kernel, and then
adding "vga=775" to lilo.conf.
