Brian,
As Andrew pointed out the problem is related to the IBM PIIXIDE2 drivers. I
am running NT4 SP4 with VMware 1 and experienced exactly the same problem
until I switched PIIXIDE2 off and switched atapi on in my VM hardware
profile for NT. Suddenly all came good and worked.
The UDMA business I know nothing about though. If I were to upgrade my NT
installation to SP6a would the UDMA support improve NT's performance under
VMware? How would it be enabled? Pointers to docs would be great. Presumably
UDMA stands for Ultra-DMA?
I have VMware V2 but have not yet got around to installing it. Anybody seen
any significant difference on the TP's with V2 of VMware versus V1?
Jackie
