[ltp] alsasound problem on TP600X

First, I'm really glad this list exists.  Using Suns at work with
Solaris, I can't STAND Win stuff.  However, I'm not a computer hacker
person and find it frustrating sometimes to make Linux do what I'd like.

I'll start out with a description of the system installation (I'm
running RedHat 6.1) and then the last two paragraphs are the
question/problem I'm having.  I've looked through the archives for
this situation and not found it, or else I am too confused/ignorant to
realize it was covered.  At any rate, I am having some problems on
occasion with alsasound and my sound card.  I have a TP600X, with the
CS46* soundcard.

	from /usr/sbin/sndconfig:

		PCI soundcard
		Cirrus Logic/CS
		4614/22/24
		Crystal Clear Sound Fusion
		Audio Accelerator

I've installed alsasound 0.5.6, and am using the commands in the
rc.sysinit as from Manoj Kasichainula's "Linux on a Thinkpad 600X" web
page.  Perhaps the problem is the PCI thing, but I don't know enough
to know, I'm sorry to say.

Some of the error messages from the bootlog are below the asterisks.
The reason I care is that sometimes when I boot the system makes a
very hard hang (I have to use the reset button).  This can happen
whether I'm connected to the network via a 3Com 10 Mbps LAN card, or
not (although it's more likely to happen when I am not connected --
the card is still in the PC card slot).

The sound card works if the system comes up.  At least, it works to
play CDs, which is my main interest.  My question is only -- is there
something I should change to avoid the hard hang?  Thanks!
