I've tried minicom but I'm not sure how it should be configured. But if
that's
the right one I'll keep trying different combinations.
On the one serial port looking like two issue. I'm not sure if it would work
but I thought seeing as serial ports 1 and 3 (ttyS0 and ttyS2) both have the
same IRQ but different hardware addresses it might be possible to get one
port
as two. But the more I'm thinking of this the more unrealistic it seems to
be
getting.

| I'm relatively new to Linux and esp. on a Laptop. How do you go about
| connecting to a device through the serial port. Previously under SunOS
I've
| used the 'tip' command I think 'getty' is it s equivalent in Linux but
cant
| seem to get it configured correctly, can someone please help.
Try minicom.
| Also is there any way to get the one serial port I have to look like
| two or am I better off to use some form of serial expansion?
I don't understand how you could have one serial port look like two.
Perhaps you can explain what you mean.
