[ltp] x11 problems with tp 240x

i just got a tp 240x and can't get x windows (xfree 3.3.6)  running on
it.   the video chipset has changed from tp 240 and is now SMI: LynxEM+,
whose support in the svga server is rumored to be buggy.  the server
simply dies after flashing shortly the gray screen.

if someone has managed to get x windows running on tp 240x, it would be
nice to hear about it.  if not, then i would avoid that model for linux
use until the problems have been fixed.  i have tried both accel on and
off as well as hardware curson on and off.
