I have configured a TP600E with xfree4.0 and it was able to run 1024*768
at 16-bit colors
I haven't tested it if it was able to run 1280x1024 (Laptop didn't belong to 
me)
but I don't think it would have been a problem

I haven't tried xfree3.3.x on it, could be it also works
