[CF] Girls are never off topic ;^)

[CF] I installed a Debian 2.2 with kernel 2.2.18 and XFree86 3.3.6 and the
display worked well.
> After running #startx I always get a line in /var/log/XFree.log

[CF] I think the answer is in the log file:
[...snip snip...]
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 1024x768 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Mode "1024x768" deleted (hsync out of range)
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 640x350 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Default mode "640x350" deleted (exceeds panel
> dimensions)
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 640x400 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Default mode "640x400" deleted (exceeds panel
> dimensions)
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 720x400 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Default mode "720x400" deleted (exceeds panel
> dimensions)
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 640x480 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Default mode "640x480" deleted (exceeds panel
> dimensions)
> (II) Silicon Motion(0): Mode: 640x480 24-bpp, 0.000000Hz
> (WW) Silicon Motion(0): Default mode "640x480" deleted (exceeds panel
> dimensions)
[CF] [...I think it's enough... snip snip...]
> (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

[CF] ...something seems wrong with the refresh (0 Hz?!), and I think you
should correct the configuration file (as you tried), but I think there's
something more:
[...snip snip...]
> Section "Monitor"
> Identifier "My Monitor"
> HorizSync 25.2 # I tried this with 32.5 and
> VertRefresh 48 # 60 too
> ModeLine "1024x768" 48.00 1024 1104 1208 1348 768 778 782 888
> EndSection
[CF] [...snip snip...]
> Section "Screen"
> Identifier "Screen 1"
> Device "Silicon Motion Lynx family"
> Monitor "My Monitor"
> DefaultDepth 24
> DefaultColorDepth 24
>
> Subsection "Display"
> Depth 24
> Modes "1024x768"
> ViewPort 0 0
> Virtual 1024 768
> EndSubsection
> EndSection
>
[CF] Are you sure about the 1024x768 modeline? On my i1200 the display can
do 800x600 at best.
I think you should try to lower the resolution and then let us know...
Bye. Cesare.
