Thanks Carl,
it was a nice surprise to see your posting about kde on the 600x.
I did not suspect that other people could have the same problem and did
not ask the list.
Now KDE 2.1.1 and X do not freeze every now and then when I browse with
KFM in my 600x. I use suse 7.1 and after inserting the Screen Section
options you proposed I establish a clear improvement of X performance.
