Ok, this isn't exactly relevant to Linux on the thinkpad, but here it is:

I just got a ThinkPad 770 (P1 233Mhz and 96MB RAM) which I plan to use as a
router and a file server for my home LAN. Anyhoo, I popped my SuSE bootdisk
in for an FTP install from my athlon box. After about 5 minutes since I
booted, while I was doing the package selection, it just suspended for no
reason. I woke it up and resumed the package selection and about 10 minutes
later it just shut off suddenly while SuSE was installing! I tried the
install again, but this time after about 45 seconds, it suspended again.
With every attempt made to wake it up, it would just show the screen for a
second then go back to suspend. Unless there's seriously something wrong
with it, it has to be some power management settings that's causing this. I
built an MS-DOS disk with ps2.exe on it and looked around at the settings,
but couldn't find anything suspicious. While I was in MS-DOS, it also
displayed similar behavior as in the linux installer. Also on occasion,
usually after it suddenly turns off and I try to turn it back on again,
it'll turn off again just before it is about to check for a bootdisk. Any
insight into what's causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

~gravy
