I had something similar happen to me on my 760EL a while back. I did the
install in text mode which gave me no troubles.

Subject: [ltp] Redhat 7.0 GUI Install Problems on IBM Thinkpad 600E
I tried several times last night to install Redhat 7.0 from a bootable CD on
an IBM Thinkpad 600E PII 233 192MB RAM.
The CD boots fine. I chose a standard workstation install with automatic
disk configuration. The disk formats and ALL packages install. At the end
of the package install portion, the display says that there are 0.0 MB left
to copy, but the Overall status bar hangs at about 3/4. The disk and CD-ROM
stop spinning and the machine is unresponsive with the exception of the
mouse.
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
