Brad, you're the man!
Your alsa-config-file was the thing i needed to get my sound working
(again after a reinstall of linux).
As Thomas Hood pointed out, the 770E(D) uses a cs4236 chip, whereas I
thought it was a cs4232 (no idea where I did get that from).
But I noticed a "popping" soudn once in a while even if the computer is
not using sound at that time (didn't noticed that before my reinstall -
also with alsa-drivers).
Any idea about that (the "popping" sound is the single klick like the
ones during loading of the alsa-drivers.
Re XFree: I did get some poor fonts using konqueror (lloks like
pixeling). again this apeared only after a clean (re-)install of linux.
Any thoughts of that?
