[ltp] Problems with a mandrake install on a 600x

Hey everyone, I just recently installed Linux Mandrake 7.2 (and tried 8.0 as well) and both distros freeze on boot up right after the line:

apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.13)

I have the most up-to-date bios.  Anybody know why it does this?
