[ltp] IMPS/2 mouse and X

i've got a TP21 and i can't seem to get the IMPS/2 protocol to work with
either XFree86 3.x or 4.x with an external wheel mouse.  i've used the
drivers from probo.com, but unfortunately tim hasn't been able to help me
out.  i thought i'd see if anyone here has had better luck.  i've tried
using the trackpoint auto-disable function in the bios, but that make no
difference either.  basically, if i select IMPS/2 instead of plain PS/2 in
my XF86Config the mouse becomes completely erratic.

anyone see this before?
