And again Thomas triggers the last part of my failing memory... I also
excluded IRQ 5 and IRQ 9 in config.opts to force the use of (in my case)
IRQ 10 for the token ring card...

These are the symptoms of irq mishandling: irq conflicts
or misconfiguration.
