You can read up on the details of software limits on disk capacity here:
<http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO-4.html>
Linux handles any currently-available capacity as of versions 2.2.14 and
2.3.21.
However, notebook disks (that is, 2.5" disks) come in different
thicknesses: anywhere from 8.5 mm to 14 mm, I think. Some notebooks
cannot take the thicker disks; for example, the iBook can only handle
up to 9 mm disks, I've heard. Given the huge size of the 770Z, it
can probably handle any 2.5" disk available. My Travelstar 32GH
(IBM-DJSA-232) is officially 12.5 mm, so I know that the 770Z can handle
disks of at least that thickness.
