[ltp] hibernation + X freezes A20p

Hi all - now that I can actually hibernate, I have stumbled across an
annoying problem - after waking up from hiberantion, my laptop freezes:
not always immediately, although it is more likely to do so if I went into
hibernation from X instead of switching to the console first.

If I switched to the console before hibernating, I can switch back to X,
log in (via gdm), and do stuff, for a while - however it seems that the
screensaver kicking in will sometimes cause a freeze [this might be an
unrelated dri bug], as will logging back out of X, and on one occasion it
just froze while not doing much of anything.

Kernel 2.4.7, Xfree86 4.0.3 [Debian/woody] - X has no problem with coming
back from suspend - it seems it's only hibernate that triggers this
behaviour. Anybody have any idea what's at fault here? Is it likely to be X,
the kernel, both or neither?

The lockup leaves the diaply frozen on whatever it was showing just before
the bug triggered - the Fn-Home/End/Pgup buttons to control screen
brightness/screenlight still work, but nothing else does - have to lean on
the power button for a good 10 seconds or so to get the machine to power
off.
