[ltp] memtest86 on Thinkpad 600

Hello, I've decided to test the memory on my TP600 with memtest86
(from http://www.teresaudio.com/memtest86/).
The program dies--I have to use the little holed button hidden below the
power switch to turn the machine off.
Has anybody on this list (with a TP600?) tried to run memtest86?  sucessfully?
