Why would you want to do this? LCD screens look dreadful at resolutions 
other than the design resolutions (Unlike CRTs).

On my TP, Mandrake 8.0,8.1, 8.2 all only allow the on resolution - so 
I'm not sure it's possible.

A much better fix the the problem you probably have (i.e. fonts are so 
tiny you can't see them) is to add this into the monitor section:
