Hi All:

Does anyone know of a replacement to MS Hyproterminal with a GUI interface
similar to "X terminal for use with KDE" Konsole 1.1.3.

The objective is to transfer files from and to several different types of
highly suffocated custom process controllers which utilize non MS and non
Unix (including Linux) operating systems.

One such set of devices - and the most complicated - is manufactured by
Sweitzer Engineer Lab: http://www.selinc.com/.

The normal means of making these transfers is by Hyperterminal and a null
modem cable.

It is possible to also make these transfers by network if the relay is
networked. Networking the relays is currently not feasible in most
locations thus this method is for all practical purposes a futures feature.

It has been suggested that Minicom could be used for this. Personally I
find Minicom difficult to setup for these transfers with an archaic GUI
interface thus a more modern approach is being sought.

Thanks
Frank
