Hi,
I try to enable sound on TP 755C with linux (like hundreds other
people) but I'd like to have success ...
Plenty of hints on google.com an kharkers laptop HP
have lead to the result:
1.) soundchip cs4248
2.) support for this Soundchip with ad1848
3.) parameters: io=0x220 irq=7 dma=1 type=4 or irq=5
... but failing. modprobe ad1848 works standalone:
lsmod shows:
ad1848 16688 0 (unused)
sound 58776 0 [ad1848]
soundlow 344 0 [sound]
soundcore 2564 3 [sound]
and /proc/sound file is created, but fairly empty:
+++++
hanne:~ # cat /proc/sound
OSS/Free:3.8s2++-971130
Load type: Driver loaded as a module
Kernel: Linux hanne 2.2.14 #1 Mon Mar 13 10:52:30 GMT 2000 i486
Config options: 0
Installed drivers:
Card config:
Audio devices:
Synth devices:
Midi devices:
Timers:
0: System clock
Mixers:
+++++
I tried other combinations, too. Who can help?
4.) booting DOS before, loading DOS drivers may be good.
I did it, sound works with DOS, but not when booting
linux with loadlin after.
Can somebody tell me the difference how to behave, when
I booted DOS before? Is loading the driver with modprobe
necessary or have I to 'cat' some stuff into /proc/sound ??
thx
Ekkard
P.S. there is somewhere a HP where I can get
NG 'ibm.ibmpc.thinkpad'. Where?
