First the Concise answer:
1. the XF86Config-4 doesn't LOOK like it's setting a virtual screen size.
2. The xdpyinfo appears normal.
Detailed answers below......
There were two suggestions that the Screen section of
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4. might define Mode or Virtual (screen size) larger
than 640x480.
It does not.appear to though the monitor section doesn't list 640X480.
The detractor however is that it certainly doesn't seem to be a virtual
screen because
