OK, got the message and will wait for another year or so, in the hope
that the fan will not wear down in the meanwhile.
By the way I must admit that I had the suse 8.0 sensors.rpm package
installed for a couple of hours (without running detect). The package
is installed per default and I was tired of the persistent Yast
warnings of unsatisfied KDE 3.0 dependencies linked with the sensors.
When those dependencies are satisfied, i.e. sensors installed, suddenly
the KDE taskmanager works properly, which is nice when killing
processes and applications from within a graphical interface. Without
sensors.rpm the process manager and ksysguard do not work ("Connection
to local host has been lost"). So it seems the sensors package has been
'successfully' integrated into KDE 3.0 to the regret of many thinkpad
owners.
