[ltp] T30 X windows lockups

I'm running Red Hat 7.2 on a T30 (2366-21U) with the Ximian Gnome
Desktop and XFree86 4.1.0. Everything works great except that 
X will occasionally lock up (or it may be that I've actually crashed
linux since I can no longer even ping the laptop from elsewhere.)

Thise requires me to cycle the power to regain control. So far I've been
unable to correlate the lockups with any particular action(s). Naturally
this means I've been unable to do any real troubleshooting of the
problem.

Has anyone else experienced and/or solved such a problem?
