I have a TP600 (2645-51U)
According to all documentation I can find it should have a CS4236 soundch=
ip. =20
Windows confirms as much.
To get sound to work in Mandrake 9.0, I had to turn off the pnp BIOS.  I =
used=20
sndconfig 0.68 (as root) to manually configure the cs423x driver.  No com=
bo=20
of settings (and there are a lot) enabled me to hear the test sound.  How=
ever=20
both the Soundblaster and ES1668 drivers (irq=3D5, dma=3D1, io=3D0x220) w=
ork.

A few questions...
1.=09Can anyone point me to some sound files with which I could test the =
quality=20
of sound reproduction.  (The test sound is a little scratchy, but I have=20
nothing to compare it to.)
2=09Can anyone tell me what's going on here?  What am I likely to miss wi=
th this=20
bootstrap setup?
