You can either:
- install a pcmcia-cs package
- install a kernel-image-<kernel-version> package
- install a pcmcia-modules-<kernel-version> package
or:
- build and install some kernel you like
- install the pcmcia-source package
- build the pcmcia tools and modules according to the configuration of
your own kernel.
Note that you have to decice if you want to use the pcmcia drivers
supplied by the kernel since linux 2.4 (hotplug devices) or by the
pcmcia package.
