No=2E Get the source tarball and compile it using the enclosed instructio=
ns=2E
The use the insmod -f lt_modem and insmod lt_serial commands=2E You will
receive a message about the Non-GPL license in the lt_modem=2Eo code=2E  T=
his
is because Agare (sp?)(aka=2E Lucent) decided not to release part of the
driver code to the public in GPL format=2E

Anyway, this is what I did after doing a bunch of reading, both on this
list and on the Linmodems list=2E=2E=2E

I know this may sound silly, but do I really have to return to RH 7=2E3 in=

order to use the modem on my laptop? Perhaps I don't even deserve your
sympathy because I broke the cardinal rule of software and upgraded when
what I had was working just fine for me=2E

I did as some other people have done and tried a) grabbing a
not-quite-matched flavor of rpm and installing the drivers with this and
b) finding this could never work then installed using the build kit from
heby=2E Both times I got all the gcc 2 versus 3 error messages that other
people got=2E Are we all just out of luck until someone recompiles the
ltmdobj=2Eo file with gcc3=2E2?

And I used to say all through RH 6=2Ewhatever to 7=2E3 that I couldn't see=

what all the fuss was about winmodems=2E=2E=2E
