James,
the boot floppy will allow you to create a Hibernation Partition on your
hard drive (must be a primary partition therefore you need space in your
mbr partition table!!!) and sets up the bios to use that partition to
store the hibernation file when you hit Fn-F12.
Disregard the info about supported operating systems on that page! That
info is just referencing the operating system necessary to CREATE the
physical floppy disk from the floppy disk image!!! Once you have the
floppy disk it will boot into a utility doing the necessary
low-level-setup in the bios and on your hard drive to enable hibernation
- no matter what operating system you use (I don't have any windows on
my machine either *wink*)! You can also download the afore mentioned ISO
image of a bootable CD-ROM I created using that very floppy disk image
and burn a bootable CD-ROM that will do exactly the same as the floppy
disk would.
