Ok... I don't know if I've made any progress here, or tied myself up in
knots... I'm running Redhat Fedora Core 1 - with all updates and a
custom Kernel panic on starting IRDArolled 2.4.22-ac4 kernel.

A quick rundown of what I do from boot:
1) setserial /dev/ttyS0 port 0 irq 0
2) modprobe irda0 - this loads irda.o and ioport.o - I pass the io and
irq
options to irport.o from modules.conf.
3) run /etc/init.d/irda start
4) about 3 seconds pass
5) kernel panic.

irda0: transmit timed out
divide error: 0000
CPU: 0
EIP: 0010:[<d0eb6565>] Not tainted
EFLAGS: 00210046
etc etc
<0>Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interupt handler!
In Interrupt handler - not syncing

Then the system locks hard. Power off is the only option. What am I
missing?
