same phenomena here,  but with Xfree86 4.3.99.16 and 2.4.22-ck2 kernel.

Glad to here that you have the same problem, seems i can drop dualview,
PCI and X unstable as possible reasons.

Did you compile X yourself or is it a debian package?
And what about the kernel, regarding the same question?
