Subject: [ltp] Thiinkpad 600E Suse 9.0 and no Sound
Reply-To: linux-thinkpad@linux-thinkpad.org
Hello ....
At first im Newbie
I have a 600E and canīt get any sound out of it...
I have installe Suse 9.0 and automatic the Driver CS4610 is installed,
but it doesnīt work.....
I thougt I have done everything that Suse Support says.....
Sound chipset: Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4610 (rev
01)
Works with the kernel driver for cs4232 in the emulation mode. No
special settings are necessary to achieve the emulation mode.
One needs the following lines in /etc/conf.modules
alias char-major-14 cs4232
options cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0
to get wav and mp3 file playing working. The driver will not survive an
APM suspend / resume, reload it after an suspend / resume.
Quality of sound is even better than on my desktop PC.
ALSA of 6.4 (0.5.5+) works with the following modules.conf entries:
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-cs4236
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
options snd-card-cs4236 snd_index=0 snd_port=0x530 snd_cport=0x538
snd_irq=5 snd_dma1=1 snd_dma2=0 snd_isapnp=0
post-install snd amixer set Master 100% unmute;amixer set PCM 100%
unmute; amixer set Aux,1 100% unmute
Aux,1 is the Channel for CD-in, APM suspend / resume support for the
Thinkpad will be included in future ALSA releases.
Currently do an rcalsasound restart after an suspend / resume cycle.
After the rcalsasound restart an Error is comming .....canīt locate
module cs4236....
Please Help.....
