I'm running Fedora Core 1 at present, but I started out with SuSE 9.0
Pro on my 600E. I switched because of the problems I encountered with
SCPM (the profile switching utility). Although the Administration Guide
had a section devoted to it, it was not complete and up to date (seemed
like it was written for previous version). After having a couple of
times when I could not boot properly and get on the network, either at
home or work, I went to Fedora Core and switch my network settings
manually.
Other than the issue with SCPM, I liked SuSE 9.0 Pro and would recommend
it highly. I just wish that there was more information out there on this
distro. You can walk into any major bookstore and find volumes on Red
Hat, several books on Mandrake, and a couple on Debian, but to my
knowledge, there's only one book on SuSE, and it was written for version
8. Being that this is the version you are inquiring about, you may want
to pick it up. Just do a search using SuSE at Amazon.
You may not have the problems that I mentioned above. I am new to Linux
in general, so I am still getting my feet wet. Good luck. If you do run
into problems, Fedora Core 1.0 is running quite well on my machine now.
