[ltp] Thinkpad 770 hardware (screen) question.

I have a 770X (14.1" display) with a dead backlight. Whether it's the
inverter or the backlight that's toasted, I don't know (how can I tell?).
It's not a loose cable, though. :)
My question is this: Can I buy a junk 770 (say one of the P233 models)
and replace my 770X's top with the good top/screen assembly? I figure
from looking at the IBM service guide that I'd have no trouble with the
14.1" screens/tops interchanging - but can I get a (cheaper) 770
with a 13.3" screen and do the swap? I don't care about the larger
screen, as it's the same resolution (1024x768) as the smaller one. I just
want to get a usable machine again without spending a lot of money.
Anyone with experience in this area?
