[ltp] still struggling with mwave on 600e

hi all....

fraid im still struggling to get the mwave modem working on my thinkpad 
600e...

i did find out that mandrake doesnt install setserial by default 
(probably because it uses devfs) - this was the cause of the mwaved 
script spewing lots of code over the screen (still dont know why it 
should puke up half its shell script though!)....

still having the same symtoms - everything loads correctly but kppp 
freezes at 'Initialising modem'... and gnome-ppp says 'the ppp daemon 
died unexpectedly'. there are conspicuously *no* messages in 
/var/log/messages or dmesg - nothing at all... except to show the mwave 
module loading correctly at ttyS1....

please help!.... ;)
