For me the absence of these windows keys that squeeze in next to Alt
and Ctrl is one more of the small reasons that add up to why I like
thinkpads more than other laptops. 

Especially when using emacs that needs modifier keys a lot it is very
annoying to have these useless keys occupying precious space, and I'm
very sad that not more keyboards are available without them. (I
remapped Caps-Lock to Ctrl, but still)
