hi,

something is not right.
i have two kernels, 2.4.20 and 2.5.70. i use 2.4.20 for everyday purposes
and with that everything works fine (sound, net, ...).
but. if i only boot up the 2.5.70 and then immediately reboot again into
2.4.20, my sound card stops working. the only thing that can help then is
to remove the cmos battery and then put it back. after this (and 
setting the date and time) everything works again under 2.4.20.
so maybe the problem is not my cmos battery after all.
does the 2.5.70 kernel do something wierd i don't know of?
