You should go to www.ibm.com/pc/support/us, seach for your model number (using 
the "find a product" widget) and download the "hardware maintenance manual" 
for your particular machine (choose "Online publications" in the "View by 
document type" box).  The HMMs have detailed procedures for disassemling 
everything that can be disassembled, and problem analysis procedures for lots 
of subassemblies.
