DMA would not enable for me using 2.4.20, but it did work with
2.4.21-rc1. I ended up copying the IDE code from 2.4.21-rc1 into 2.4.20
in order to get DMA working. I did this because I liked the other
features already patched into the SuSE 2.4.20 kernel.

As a side note, I am able to use APM suspend now - the problem turned
out to be with the Radeon 3d drivers. If I don't use the 3d drivers
then I can suspend and resume most of the time without hanging. I'll
updated my web page with that info. Now I just need drivers for the
802.11a/b ar5k based card!
