Shortly:
1. It is just a coincidence that MS picked Orinoco design that is best
supported under Linux, MS just branded it. If they knew it, they may
have requested non-standard firmware
2. 802.11b soft for Windows is quite decent. Not mentioning
802.11g/802.11a that does not exist for Linux
