Hi Eric

I have confirmed that e1000.o is in /lib/modules , /proc/ksyms displays
clean ,
can you point me to a FAQ or howto that covers upfrading a kernel ?

find /lib/modules -name e1000.0 or grep e1000 /proc/ksyms -- you may need 
to recompile and or upgrade your kernel for e1000 support.
