|Debian? Do you mean that Knoppix has its own versions of such software
|that are materially different to the official Debian packaging of KDE,

hm. i came from knoppix -> knx_hdinstall and am now using normal debian
apt sources. theres really no problem whatsoever in regards to the
"mixing". only i found the knoppix install process _much_ more
convenient.
