Thank you for all the comments. I now realize that my
question was a bit, ahem, naive.

To me the difference between 5 secs and 60 secs aren't
that important; only it is certainly not just 60 secs
anymore when booting includes restarting many
applications and loading datafiles to get into the
same state as before shutting down.

I'll go prepare for a hibernation partition and check
upon the ACPI-stuff.
