Check out this bug: http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1038
The latest -mm patchset includes the fixes for the embedded controller,
but you'll probably need to apply the batty patch to get the "acpi"
program to work without errors. This has helped me get ACPI working
(except suspend stuff, but oh well) fine on my T30.
