Are you trying to make a 2.6.9-test8 kernel out of your 2.6.0-test9
tree or do you have any reason to reverse the -test9 patch? If not, I
think you're making the mistake of thinking that 'patch-2.6.0-test9' is
a patch *for* the 2.6.0-test9 tree, whilst it really is a patch *to*
2.6.0-test9.
