Hi all,
YES!!!!! I finally got it to work. Thanks to all your help, I finally saw that the diabolical port attached to the HDD can be unscrewed and inside, lo & behold, is a standard IDE port! I connected it to my IDE2usb adapter in my laptop drive casing (the case itself is too small) & managed to access my HDD. Now I'll configure the BIOS of my desktop to boot from the usb (That's possible, right?) & that way I'll have a nice mobile Linux to use whenever I'm elsewhere & all everybody has is windoze in their desktops!!!
Thanks for all the help everybody!

I'm not online at the moment (so I can't look at your pictures), but I
have a 770Z. The hard drive is standard, but located in a caddy. Have you
taken the drive out of the caddy? If not, get a jeweler's screwdriver and
have at it. There's a standard laptop hard drive in there somewhere. :)
In fact, I replaced the old (slow) HD in my 770Z with a 5400 RPM drive
just recently and use the thing as my desktop while at home.
