after checking with a few c't hard disk reviews
(unfortunately I didn't find the exact model)
that looks like a reasonable performance for this kind of 2.5" drive.
They cite averages in the lower 20MB/s.
I have a T30 with the same model and get
/dev/hda1:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 1572 MB in 2.00 seconds = 784.55 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 60 MB in 3.10 seconds = 19.36 MB/sec
